Winter holidays in Nals South Tyrol
Skiing – snowboarding
Whether you are a beginner or a professional, there are perfect pistes for everyone located close by. The small Vigiljoch ski area above Lana is just 15 minutes or so from the hotel. With its simple, flat pistes it is ideal for family-friendly skiing and particularly recommended for beginners. Advanced skiers can enjoy fabulous views while practising their sport in the Meran 2000 ski area. The Schwemmalm ski area in the Ultental Valley is a real experience too, with plenty for skiers and snowboarders to appreciate. Tasty South Tyrolean fare is available from the numerous huts and mountain inns.Sledging
Sledging is as popular as ever, a healthy sport for young and old alike with plenty of opportunities on offer in South Tyrol. The small resort of Reinswald in the Sarntal Valley has been an attraction for many years now, with modern lift facilities whisking visitors up to the beautiful panorama visible from the sunny high pastures above.Vigiljoch above Lana also offers an unforgettable winter experience for the whole family, zooming down through the snow on a toboggan.
Many of the hiking trails in South Tyrol are also suitable for sledging.
Hiking through the snow
What could be more beautiful than hiking through snow-covered valleys, past mountain villages or up to the marvellous pastures and mountains? The Seiser Alm, Europe’s largest high pasture, offers innumerable walking possibilities with fascinating views of the high summits of the main Alpine ridge, the Schlern massif and the Langkofel group.Italy’s first winter premium trail is located on the Ritten high plateau. A pleasant panoramic route, it leads up to the well-known peak of the Rittner Horn where you can forget the everyday as you marvel at the unique panorama of the Dolomites!
Ice-skating
The ice-skating rink in the romantic Gaulschlucht in Lana is a mix of natural contrasts: ice-skating surrounded by nature is combined with the more urbane pleasures of music and dancing on the ice!Ice-skating is also possible on several of South Tyrol’s lakes: in winter the well-known Montiggler Lake is transformed into a giant ice-rink where junior figure skaters can practise their pirouettes and future speed skaters can pick up momentum!
